belly dance in chichester

Hello, I am Jennifer Lee and I dedicate this web site to the timeless art of Belly Dance. An art form I have been passionate about for several years.

Belly dancing is a great way to keep fit but at the same time it is a low impact form of exercise. This makes it suitable for all ages and people with different levels of fitness, shapes or sizes. Belly dancing offers everyone an unique way to express themselves not just their feminity but their inner most spirit. Many belly dancers have also forged new and lasting friendships.

For those wishing to learn, we hold belly dance classes at The Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club in Oaklands Park, Chichester and at The Bracklesham Barn Community Centre, Beech Avenue, Bracklesham Bay. Click here for more information.

If Belly Dancing interests you, there are also articles about belly dance which I have sourced through the years and videos of my favourite belly dancers from around the world.

Belly dance workshops and performance at Fibromyalgia Conference, 2012 in Chichester

Nothing will keep these ladies away from belly dancing

It was a pleasure and privilege to do two belly dance workshops for the participants at the Fibromyalgia Conference in Chichester. The ladies were so lovely and welcoming to belly dancing. After the initial oops and ahhs, they were dancing away beautifully in smooth and rhythmic belly dance moves.

Tribal belly dance -An inspirational belly dance style that is beautiful and elegant.

Tribal belly dancing whether American tribal fusion or otherwise, internalizes the rhythms and the outflow of emotion. It is channeled into an improvised dance that has its own uniqueness and cannot be learnt by rote. Each dancer makes a personal experience with the music and communicates with an individual style. It is more of a communication with the audience on a one to one basis and this is what adds to the simplicity and fluid sensuality of the dance. It is a misconception that tribal belly dancing is only sensual in appeal; it is actually a very mature demonstration that is not coy and at the same time is imbued with a rare dignity....MORE

" But jumping right in is the only way you begin to truly understand the dance. And because it's such a feminine dance, for women it comes to them more naturally than they would expect. " (extract from the article below) .......

Every Woman Should Be Belly Dancing

The thing about it is that not too many women accomplish this. Belly Dance is for most an out of reach world which borders on the exotic and exclusive. Honestly much too many women are exempted from this world either by lack of knowledge or lack of exposure. Therefore they do not even fathom the idea of belly dancing being part of their lives.

Because of this, many miss out on this wonderful dance and never enjoy the emotional and physical benefits which belly dancing can bring into their lives. Unfortunately many belly dance books do not address the preliminary issues which may discourage someone from even giving belly dance a try. These books focus mostly on technique, which although important, is useless to someone who is not actively seeking what they are offering. Someone has to first WANT to do something before they can learn how to do it....MORE

Belly dance workshop in Chichester

It was the hottest day in October, very unusual for an autumn month. But it was the perfect day for belly dancing. It was a privilege to be invited to conduct a belly dance workshop for a charity event; Jimmy's Challenge 12 hour Dance-A-Thon.
